Agreement to Terms
Welcome to Hungarian Academy (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Academy”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“you,” “your,” or “User”) and Hungarian Academy.
By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our services.
Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old to use Hungarian Academy. Users under 16 must have parental consent and supervision.
Services Provided
Hungarian Academy provides an online language learning platform offering:
- Video Lessons: Structured Hungarian language courses from beginner to advanced levels
- Interactive Exercises: Grammar drills, vocabulary practice, pronunciation exercises
- Downloadable Materials: PDFs, worksheets, audio files, and supplementary content
- Community Features: Discussion forums, comment sections, peer interaction (if applicable)
- Live Sessions: Optional live webinars, Q&A sessions, or tutoring (if applicable)
Platform Access: Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time.
Account Registration and Responsibilities
To access our courses, you must:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Create a unique username and secure password
- Maintain and update your information as needed
- Be responsible for all activity under your account
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of unauthorized access
- Not sharing your account with others
We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized account use.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Provide false or misleading information
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Abuse or harass other users or staff
- Attempt to hack or compromise platform security
- Share copyrighted course content
Subscriptions and Payments
Hungarian Academy offers various subscription plans:
- Monthly Membership: Billed monthly, cancel anytime
- Annual Membership: Billed yearly, discounted rate
- Lifetime Access: One-time payment for permanent access (if applicable)
- Course Bundles: Purchase specific course packages (if applicable)
- Payment Methods: We accept major credit cards, and other listed payment methods
- Billing Cycle: Subscriptions renew automatically on the billing date
- Price Changes: We reserve the right to change prices with 30 days’ notice
- Taxes: Prices may not include applicable taxes (VAT, sales tax, etc.)
- Currency: Prices are displayed in USD or EUR based on your location/billing address
CRITICAL: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled before the renewal date.
How Auto-Renewal Works:
- Monthly subscriptions renew every month on your billing date
- Annual subscriptions renew every year on your subscription anniversary
- Payment is processed automatically using your saved payment method
- You will receive email notification 7 days before renewal
- You must cancel at least 24 hours before renewal date to avoid charges
To Cancel Auto-Renewal:
- Go to Account Settings → Subscriptions → Cancel
- Or contact support at support@hungarianacademy.com
- Cancellation stops future charges but does NOT refund current period
- Access continues until end of current billing period
Important: Failure to cancel before renewal date will result in automatic charge. These charges are subject to our No Refund Policy.
CRITICAL PRICING INFORMATION:
If you purchased at a promotional or discounted price, the discount applies ONLY to your initial purchase period.
At renewal, you will be charged the current standard price, which may be higher than your promotional rate.
Examples:
- You buy annual subscription at 50% off Black Friday sale: $60
- Standard annual price: $120
- Your renewal after one year: $120 (full price), not $60
- The promotional discount does NOT continue
This applies to ALL promotional pricing:
- Holiday sales and special offers
- Launch discounts
- Coupon codes and referral discounts
- First-time user promotions
- Limited-time offers
- Any advertised sale pricing
Exception: If your account explicitly states “lifetime discount” or “grandfathered pricing,” that rate continues. This is rare and will be clearly indicated in your account settings.
Price Notification:
- You’ll be notified of the renewal price in your reminder email
- Current pricing is always displayed in Account Settings
- You can cancel before renewal if you don’t wish to continue at the new price
If payment fails:
- We will attempt to process payment again
- You will receive email notification
- Access may be suspended after 7 days
- Account may be downgraded to free tier (if applicable)
- Free trials are available for first-time users only
- Credit card required (no charge during trial)
- Cancel before trial ends to avoid charges
- One trial per user/household
No Refund Policy

IMPORTANT: All sales are final. We do not offer refunds.
Due to the digital nature of our services and immediate access to content upon purchase, all subscriptions and course purchases are non-refundable.
Key Points:
- No refunds for monthly, annual, or lifetime subscriptions
- No refunds for individual course purchases
- No partial refunds or proration when you cancel
- Cancellation stops future charges but does not refund current period
- Access continues until end of current billing period after cancellation
Limited Exception: Technical issues that prevent access and cannot be resolved may be eligible for credit or refund at our sole discretion.

User Content and Conduct
You may post content in:
- Discussion forums
- Comment sections
- Course reviews
- Profile information
By posting, you grant us:
- Non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content
- Right to moderate, edit, or remove content
- Right to use feedback for platform improvement
You retain ownership of your original content.
- Limited employee access to personal data
- Staff training on data protection
- Confidentiality obligations
- Regular security reviews
Despite our efforts, no online system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
We reserve the right to:
- Monitor all user-generated content
- Remove content that violates these Terms
- Suspend or ban users for violations
- Report illegal content to authorities
We are not responsible for user-generated content.
Intellectual Property Rights
All course materials, including:
- Video lessons and audio recordings
- Text content, worksheets, and PDFs
- Graphics, images, and design elements
- Software and platform code
- Hungarian Academy logo and branding
Are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Ownership: Hungarian Academy and its licensors own all rights, title, and interest in platform content.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Access and view course content for personal, non-commercial use
- Download materials for offline study (personal use only)
- Print worksheets for personal learning
You may NOT:
- Copy, reproduce, or redistribute course content
- Share login credentials or course materials
- Create derivative works from our content
- Use content for commercial purposes
- Remove copyright or trademark notices
- Record, screenshot, or capture video lessons for redistribution
- Upload our content to other platforms
Violation of these terms may result in account termination and legal action.
Educators and students may:
- Quote brief excerpts with proper attribution (fair use)
- Cite our resources in academic work
Commercial use, bulk distribution, or systematic reproduction is prohibited.
Copyright Infringement (DMCA)
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on our platform infringes your copyright:

- Your contact information
- Description of copyrighted work
- Location of infringing content (URL)
- Statement of good faith belief
- Statement under penalty of perjury
- Your physical or electronic signature
Counter-Notice: If your content was removed, you may file a counter-notice following DMCA procedures.

Your privacy is important to us. Our use of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
Services are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Accuracy or completeness of content
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Results or learning outcomes
- Fitness for a particular purpose
We do not guarantee:
- Language proficiency or fluency
- Test scores or certification success
- Employment or academic outcomes
- Compatibility with all devices or browsers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hungarian Academy shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Lost profits, data, or opportunities
- Service interruptions or technical failures
- User errors or misunderstandings
- Third-party actions or content
Maximum Liability: Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow liability limitations, so these may not apply to you.
Hungarian Academy provides educational content only. Our courses:
- Do NOT constitute professional language certification
- Are NOT a substitute for formal education
- Do NOT guarantee specific outcomes
For official certification, consult accredited testing bodies.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hungarian Academy, its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the platform
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of third-party rights
- Your posted content
Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including:
- Natural disasters, pandemics, or acts of God
- War, terrorism, or civil unrest
- Government actions or regulations
- Internet or telecommunications failures
- Third-party service outages
Modifications to Service and Terms
We reserve the right to:
- Modify or discontinue features
- Update course content
- Change pricing (with notice)
- Revise learning materials
We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes.
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes become effective:
- Immediately upon posting for minor updates
- After 30 days’ notice for material changes
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
Dispute Resolution
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved in the courts of St. Francois County, Missouri, United States.
We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes.

Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by:
- Using account settings to close your account
- Contacting support at support@hungarianacademy.com
Effect: Access will end; subscriptions will not auto-renew (no refunds for current period).
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent activity
- Required by law
- The platform is discontinued
Effect: You lose all access; no refunds for prepaid subscriptions (except as required by law).
Upon termination:
- Your right to access ceases immediately
- Downloaded materials must be deleted
- Certain Terms survive (intellectual property, indemnification, dispute resolution)
Miscellaneous
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy and No Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Hungarian Academy.
If any provision is found unenforceable, remaining provisions remain in effect.
Failure to enforce any right does not waive that right.
You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to a successor or affiliate.
These Terms are written in English. Translations are for convenience only; English version controls.
